Thinking about Breeding?
We believe choosing to breed (or not to breed) your Yorkie is entirely up to you, after all she is your girl.  We are happy to assist you if a litter of pups is your goal, whether you're a seasoned breeder with years of experience or just want one litter and have never "done this" before.

If you're new to the breeding world, you may feel a little intimidated at the thought of breeding your little girl, and feel like everyone has an opinion of your decision and is more than willing to share it!

If you choose a stud from Pemberly Yorkies for your stud service (see "About Us" for available studs), you can expect us to be there every step of the way if that's what you want.  We can be as much or as little involved as you want us to be.

If you choose our services we would simply ask that you respect our requirements, fees and the agreement in the contract.

Once you choose to breed your little girl, you will want to make sure she's ready.  Do you know when she's due for her next "heat cycle"? Is she up to date on her shots?  Is she the right weight and eating well?  How is her overall health?  You may want to take her to the vet before we begin the process.

Your experience might go something like as follows:
Your little girl is over a year old (or had at least one heat cycle) and you anticipate that she's due to come into heat soon.  You take her to the vet for a check up and a Brucellosis test.  A week later, with a full bill of health and a copy of the test results in hand, you watch and wait.  At the first sign of her heat (small drops of blood which she will likely be cleaning herself for often) at which time you mark your calendar.  At this point you will want to call me to set a tentative appointment.  She won't be ready until around the 10th day of her cycle.  Signs of her readiness will look something like "flagging her tail" (moves her tail to one side or the other when you touch the top of it).  A very swollen vulva (private area) and the bloody discharge has turned somewhat of an amber color and has decreased significantly.  All of these are good signs that she's ready, but every female is different, some take less time to get there, while others take more time.  But timing is everything!  If you miss it or jump the gun, the stud won't be interested!

Once we determine it's the right time to get together, you'll want to bring her to meet us while we spend some time discussing the breeding process and filling out the contract.  She'll need to stay with us for three consecutive days where we will want to get at least three solid "ties" to ensure the best possibility of pregnancy.  When you come to pick up your little girl we can discuss what to expect and signs of pregnancy and what you can do to prepare for whelping and caring for the puppies when they arrive!
Requirements:
Your little girle must be a purebred Yorkshire Terrier. She must have a Brucellosis test done through a licensed Veterinarian. This low cost test is essential for ensuring that your female does not have Brucellosis, which can render Darcy permanently infertile in addition to causing your little girl to abort her pups. The test must be done before breeding, unless it was performed less 2 months before.  That's about it, but be sure to read the contract so you'll know what to expect at our first visit!

Fees:
The stud fee is $550.00 which must be paid in cash at the first breeding. If the breeding doesn't take and you follow the guidelines in the contract, you may be refunded the total price, or the fee can be put on account for the next breeding of the same or different female who has met the requirements. Or, you can pay by method of allowing us to take first pick of the litter (this method is only available with proof that the female is AKC registered).

Testimonials:

Fawn was amazing during the process of mating Missy, my 2-year-old Yorkie, to Mr. Darcy.  At first, Missy was quite reluctant and very uncooperative, but Fawn was extremely patient, even allowing Missy to spend the night in her home to increase her comfort level.  What could have been a very stressful situation for both me and Missy turned out to be a great experience.  The result of this union is Chunks, who was born Feb. 2nd 2009 at 6.2 ounces.  He doesn't fit the name Chunks anymore as he turned out to be a tiny Yorkie.  He is barely 3 1/2 pounds at 7 months.  He's a cute, spirited, sweet little thing (but not hyper), who is looking more like his father every day.  I never thought I would like a male dog but truly he has brought me so much joy.  He is a smart little boy and Mr. Darcy would be proud of him.  Thank you, Fawn!

I have purchased 3 Yorkies over the years and have had some bad experiences with breeders. When I decided to breed my female I did a lot of research. I'm so glad I found Pemberly Yorkies. Fawn was absolutely incredible. She was there for me every step of the way. As a first time breeder, I read everything I could about breeding dogs and still had a lot of questions. Fawn knew the answer when the vet didn't. I love Yorkies and it's obvious that Fawn does too. You can tell just by talking to her, it's not a business for her, it's her passion.
